Goodbye, summer squash...

... you will be missed. My zucchini plant died a couple days ago. How tragic. I have no idea what caused it. It rotted at the stem, but I couldn't tell what was causing the rot. I got some pics.

I got 4 beautiful, perfect zucchinis out of it. So sad.

But the rest of my garden looks really happy. The squash are taking over, as was to be expected. I'm quite happy with all the vinery.

That photo of the stem rot is absolutely beautiful! I mean, really! I want that printed large and up on my wall. Hrm.. can I? Want to provide me a link to the highest resolution image you have of it?

Oh, and I'm terribly sorry your zucchini died. I wonder if it was cucumber beetle spreading some sort of fungus, or squash vine borer. At least you'll have room for something else, right?

I can solve your zucchini shortage!!! I planted six plants, and even though I'm giving away at least two zucchini(s?) a day, I still have extras on my counter. One of them snuck up on me and got too big before I caught it - but I finally caught it. I was thinking of hollowing it out, varnishing it, and using it as a canoe. What do you think?
