Some photos before I leave my garden under the care of my bandmates for a week, while I whoop it up at Everdale.

the making of an urban biointensive garden in Toronto
I'm kind of excited about the next few years. I see skyrocketing oil prices and a climate shift gearing into full force creating a bit of havoc in the world somewhat sooner than most people think. But I think self-sufficiency will be a big part of the solution when the shit hits the fan. My dream is to someday live in a village that produces most of its own food, clothing and shelters, helping to sustain a healthy relationship with the earth.

unlucky about the spinache! mine did pretty well. I found it to be very thrirsty... but it doesn't sound like water was the problem
definitely the leaf miners were the main problem; they're present in a few people's gardens around here. the bolting probably was just due to the heat, and my strange potting soil concoction and putting off transplanting.
it might be wise for me to direct-seed spinach next time...
